Child and School Nutrition Information:
USDA School Meal Programs This USDA website provides information on the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program. This includes eligibility guidelines, applications for Free or Reduced Student Meals, and reimbursement rates. The "What’s New" Link supplies current guidelines and up-to-date information on school meal programs.

National Dairy Council The National Dairy Counsel provides teaching tools, school wellness kits and nutrition information for Nutrition Educators, Teachers, and Parents. Also included are ideas for school recycling of plastic bottles and interactive nutrition games for children.

Team Nutrition "Schools are a key setting for healthy nutrition and physical activity strategies. USDA has established nutrition standards for its school meals programs and, through Team Nutrition, is now working to help schools and school districts increase physical activity and nutrition education in schools." – Team Nutrition

As a member of the Team Nutrition Team, students and educators may use this site to read up on School Success Stories, grants, and an extensive research library filled with information on nutrition for children.

My Pyramid The new My Pyramid website provides personal menu planning, meal tracker, and planner which is adjusted to your specific needs, and is free to use. My Pyramid helps you to make smart food choices from all the food groups, balance your diet and physical activity, and stay within calorie needs while eating foods with high nutritional value.

American Heart Association: Children and Nutrition This site contains links to American Heart Association Programs, Heart & Stroke Encyclopedia entries and Scientific Statements on children and nutrition. These programs include physical activities such as "Jump Rope for Heart" and "Hoops for Heart", as well as information on childhood obesity nutrition.

American Diabetes Association: Diabetes Information for Parents and Kids The ADA provides extensive information on diabetes care, resources, "Plant D" website for kids and teens. Also included are resources for school personnel to ensure that a safe and healthy environment is provided for students with Diabetes.
